Thermador Repair

Thermador's Star burner is the most copied burner design in the industry, and the original is still the best — when it's serviced by someone who knows the platform. We do.

Thermador repair across the San Fernando Valley.

Thermador is older than most American luxury brands (since 1916) and has a quietly devoted following — especially in older Valley homes whose kitchens were originally remodeled in the 1990s. Many of those Thermador units are still running. We keep them running.

A few specific notes on Thermador service:

Star burners are different. A 5-point star burner has more orifices to clog and a different cleaning procedure than a standard ring burner. Generic cleaning misses orifices and leaves you with a half-lit burner. We use the Thermador-spec orifice tool and clean every point.

Thermador and Bosch share a parent (BSH) but the parts aren’t all interchangeable. A 2018 Thermador Sapphire dishwasher uses different control firmware and different mounting hardware than a Bosch 800-series of the same year. We know which parts cross over and which don’t — saves you money when they do, prevents misorders when they don’t.

ExtractAir is a system, not just a hood. Thermador’s downdraft and remote-blower hoods include components in your attic or roof. A failing exhaust fan up there will look like a hood failure down in the kitchen. We diagnose the entire vent path, not just the controls.

Repair vs. replace

Thermador Pro Grand ranges are one of the most repairable luxury ranges on the market. Parts availability is strong, the platform is well-documented, and the chassis is built to last. Don’t replace a Pro Grand — restore it.

Older Sapphire dishwashers (pre-2015) and 2010-era T-Series fridges are getting harder to source parts for. We’ll tell you honestly if your unit is in that window.

After 16 years on these units, here's what we see most.

Star burner igniter clicks but only one or two points light

What's actually happening: Clogged star-point orifices (the 5-point design has more openings to clog than a single-ring burner), or a failed spark module.

The right fix: Pull burner, clean each star-point orifice with the Thermador-spec tool, test spark module. The star pattern only lights properly when all 5 points clear — generic cleaning misses this.

Pro Grand range oven door slowly drooping when open

What's actually happening: Worn hinge spring assembly — common on the PRG-series past year 7. Failure mode is gradual.

The right fix: Replace hinge assembly with factory-spec part. Both hinges should be replaced as a pair to avoid uneven door seal.

Induction cooktop displaying 'C' or 'F1' fault

What's actually happening: Failed coil sensor, cracked glass over a zone, or an inverter board fault. Each shows a slightly different fault chain.

The right fix: Read fault log via Thermador service mode, isolate component, replace. Thermador induction shares some parts with the Bosch 800-series — we leverage that for parts availability.

Built-in T-series refrigerator (T36IT) running warm intermittently

What's actually happening: Failed evaporator fan, freezer door seal allowing frost migration, or a defrost system fault.

The right fix: Test fan amp draw, inspect gasket, force-defrost cycle and watch heater operation. Most T-series fridge issues resolve with a fan or thermistor swap.

Steam oven 'fill water tank' message even when full

What's actually happening: Failed water-level sensor, scaled-up water inlet, or a clogged steam generator.

The right fix: Descale per Thermador procedure (we carry the descale tablets), inspect float sensor, replace if drifted.

ExtractAir downdraft slow to clear smoke

What's actually happening: Clogged grease filter, failed remote blower (mounted in attic or roof), or undersized ducting from the original install.

The right fix: Clean filter, test blower amp draw, inspect duct run. ExtractAir installs in the Valley are often ducted poorly — we'll tell you if a duct upgrade is the right move.
